Psalm 38

A psalm of David. A petition.

1 O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.

2 For your arrows have pierced me,
and your hand has come down upon me.

3 Because of your wrath there is no health in my body;
my bones have no soundness because of my sin.

4 My guilt has overwhelmed me
like a burden too heavy to bear.

5 My wounds fester and are loathsome
because of my sinful folly.

6 I am bowed down and brought very low;
all day long I go about mourning.

7 My back is filled with searing pain;
there is no health in my body.

8 I am feeble and utterly crushed;
I groan in anguish of heart.

9 All my longings lie open before you, O Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from you.

10 My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
even the light has gone from my eyes.

11 My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds;
my neighbors stay far away.

12 Those who seek my life set their traps,
those who would harm me talk of my ruin;
all day long they plot deception.

13 I am like a deaf man, who cannot hear,
like a mute, who cannot open his mouth;

14 I have become like a man who does not hear,
whose mouth can offer no reply.

15 I wait for you, O LORD;
you will answer, O Lord my God.

16 For I said, "Do not let them gloat
or exalt themselves over me when my foot slips."

17 For I am about to fall,
and my pain is ever with me.

18 I confess my iniquity;
I am troubled by my sin.

19 Many are those who are my vigorous enemies;
those who hate me without reason are numerous.

20 Those who repay my good with evil
slander me when I pursue what is good.

21 O LORD, do not forsake me;
be not far from me, O my God.

22 Come quickly to help me,
O Lord my Savior.

Jacq: It sounds like a cry to God.. to have mercy. God I pray that I will not go my own way.. going my own way causes some misery that is often self inflicted. but no man can hide from the Lord. Father, have mercy on me..

Crow: Lord, thank you for your great mercy on me..

Dellia: My prayer is that I will always be near Him....Lord don't go away from me and let me stay with You forever.

Chin Ling : I will wait for you Lord. I know You will answer me Oh Lord. Hear my desperate cry for my family and love ones.

The Lord is good.. really really good

My Testimony!

The huge project.. is almost over.. not over yet.. but almost... the initial stage of the project i mean.. and... I got a very very good compliment from my boss, which went up to my boss's boss... which went up to my Ops Manager!
Yeaps.. only selected pieces of information will be passed to her.. and.. mine happened to be the one this time.. and yes.. Praise the Lord that the project is over.. even though difficult, the Lord has brought me through it.. and.. I even got a compliment for it.. No reward, but.. its an encouragement for me to move on.. to Trust that He is really really in control..

Psalm 37

Psalm 37

Of David.

1 ^[a] Do not fret because of evil men
or be envious of those who do wrong;

2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

9 For evil men will be cut off,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.

11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy great peace.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;

13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.

15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.

16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;

17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the LORD upholds the righteous.

18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD,
and their inheritance will endure forever.

19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

20 But the wicked will perish:
The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields,
they will vanish—vanish like smoke.

21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;

22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses will be cut off.

23 If the LORD delights in a man's way,
he makes his steps firm;

24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.

26 They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be blessed.

27 Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.

28 For the LORD loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
They will be protected forever,
but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;

29 the righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever.

30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom,
and his tongue speaks what is just.

31 The law of his God is in his heart;
his feet do not slip.

32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
seeking their very lives;

33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power
or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

34 Wait for the LORD
and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,

36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.

37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
there is a future ^[b] for the man of peace.

38 But all sinners will be destroyed;
the future ^[c] of the wicked will be cut off.

39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

40 The LORD helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him

Jacq: Trust, Delight, Commit and Being Still. These are the words that I catch, from vs4-7. Matt6: 33 Seek Ye first.. I sense the Lord really speaking to me about delighting in Him. Delighting in His comfort, his promises, His refuge even.. and His presence in my life, and He will take care of the rest.. cos He is taking care of me.. Wait and Keep the ways of the Lord, God is faithful, and everything else, is under His care. When you seem to look at life of everyone around and say that its not fair, when you feel that your hard work is not recognised, do not worry. God has something even bigger and better in store, especially for you! Lord, I claim your promises! Amen x 10000000!

Chin Ling: Staying in the ways of the Lord is most important above all. And, I pray that I'll continually stay in the Lord and seek his way, walk in his ways, not my own. Let me glorify his name as I walk in his ways, I may 1) enjoy safe pasture 2) gain the desires of my hearts 3) shine like the dawn and the justice of my cause like the noonday don, 4) inherit the land, 5)enjoy great peace, 6) gain inheritance that endures forever 7) enjoy plenty 8) have firm steps 9) see my children blessed 10) protected forever 11) not slip 12) be delivered. Retracing the gifts of the giver affirms me to want to continue to walk in his ways, help me look in hope to the giver instead of being tempted in my own ways. Thank you, Jesus. You're the greatest gift of all.

Aileen: Wa.. this is a classic case of.. are you talking to me lord? wah.. maybe the lord knows i'm seeking greener pasture. haha.. i think vs 6 and 7 speaks to me a lot.. justice and waiting for the lord

Crow: To me, this psalm is really about trusting the Lord.. even when circumstances do not seem just, to trust and wait upon Him... and choose to delight myself in the Lord.... i like verse 23 and 24.. " If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand." haha, find so much truth and joy in this verse! :)

Pam: Alamak... i thot I post it up lo.... oh well... Aniwae I realised that thoughtout today's Psalm... the word "dwell" kept popping up and yes indeed I want to dwell in the Lord n not on the physical things/emotional feelings...!

Dellia: This psalm really spoke to me. 3 key phases: Trust in the Lord, Take Delight in Him & Commit all my plans to Him! I can rest assure cos He will never let me fall even if I stumble and He watches over my every step. So though I have a very eventful day today (with dennis falling sick and etc), the 3 key phases really reminds me that though I have so many more things that are in urgent need to do, I need to trust in Him, take delight in Him and just commit all things to Him!

Huijuan: This is like an answered prayer from God. Cos this whole week i've been thinking, God as christians, what do we differ from non christians or those who have backslided?? Cos i see that the people mentioned in the latter part are also blessed. So what's the difference? The answer is our blessing is eternal in the Lord while theirs is shortlived and temporary. Although we might see them super blessed, but God says wait and see. So i asked what does wait and see meant?? Cos if we are faithful in the Lord, our children and our next generation will also be blessed! (see vs 25). But as for the rest, the Lord never say that they sure will be blessed! So my friends, u might not see the purpose of all that u going thru, but the Lord says He will never let the righteous fall. Praise be to God!

Psalm 36

Psalm 36

For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD.

1 An oracle is within my heart
concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: ^[a]
There is no fear of God
before his eyes.

2 For in his own eyes he flatters himself
too much to detect or hate his sin.

3 The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful;
he has ceased to be wise and to do good.

4 Even on his bed he plots evil;
he commits himself to a sinful course
and does not reject what is wrong.

5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the skies.

6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,
your justice like the great deep.
O LORD, you preserve both man and beast.

7 How priceless is your unfailing love!
Both high and low among men
find ^[b] refuge in the shadow of your wings.

8 They feast on the abundance of your house;
you give them drink from your river of delights.

9 For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light we see light.

10 Continue your love to those who know you,
your righteousness to the upright in heart.

11 May the foot of the proud not come against me,
nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

12 See how the evildoers lie fallen—
thrown down, not able to rise!

Jacq: vs 5-v10 speaks alot of the majesty of the Lord. His love, faithfulness, righteousness and justice is far more measurable than anything else, and these are what sustains me in the r/s with Him.. Lord I thank you for your abundant love.. This love that no one can give. I claim to feast in the abundance of your house, and drink from the river of delight. In your light, I see light. Lord lead me to see your way, and not my own way.. God.. thank you. Amen

Chin Ling: My prayer today is that I will not get in the way of my walk with God and to continue to give back all glory to Jesus.

Crow: Lord help me each day not to be blind to my own sins..

Pam: Dear Lord may I have the fear of the Lord for you n not walk as I like.....

Aileen: Was reminded of the song and really the lord's righteousness =)

Sara: I pray for fear of the Lord that it will guide me in my walk of life... that everything i do will be pleasing to the Lord.

Dellia: Woah..I thought I had blog but when i came back in in the night, it's gone! haaa..anyway...as I read the psalm, I jus pray that I will never ever fall into sin and think that I have not sin....Lord, help me to see!

Psalm 35

Psalm 35 NIV

Of David.
1 Contend, O LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.
2 Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid.
3 Brandish spear and javelin [a] against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, "I am your salvation."
4 May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame; may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.
5 May they be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away;
6 may their path be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
7 Since they hid their net for me without cause and without cause dug a pit for me,
8 may ruin overtake them by surprise— may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.
9 Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD and delight in his salvation.
10 My whole being will exclaim, "Who is like you, O LORD You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them."
11 Ruthless witnesses come forward; they question me on things I know nothing about.
12 They repay me evil for good and leave my soul forlorn.
13 Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered,
14 I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother.
15 But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee; attackers gathered against me when I was unaware. They slandered me without ceasing.
16 Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked [b] ; they gnashed their teeth at me.
17 O Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my life from their ravages, my precious life from these lions.
18 I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among throngs of people I will praise you.
19 Let not those gloat over me who are my enemies without cause; let not those who hate me without reason maliciously wink the eye.
20 They do not speak peaceably, but devise false accusations against those who live quietly in the land.
21 They gape at me and say, "Aha! Aha! With our own eyes we have seen it."
22 O LORD, you have seen this; be not silent. Do not be far from me, O Lord.
23 Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord.
24 Vindicate me in your righteousness, O LORD my God; do not let them gloat over me.
25 Do not let them think, "Aha, just what we wanted!" or say, "We have swallowed him up."
26 May all who gloat over my distress be put to shame and confusion; may all who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and disgrace.
27 May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, "The LORD be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant."
28 My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long.

Crow: This morning i woke up feeling quite shaken and defeated... don't really know why.. but the Lord asked me to go read this psalm the moment i was awake... and He says to me, as the psalm says, He will contend for me, He will fight for me.. and when i call out to Him, he will not be far away from me... I am assured that my Lord God is just right here with me, protecting me and fighting for me... Thank You God.

Jacq: The battle rages.. it doesnt stop just like that.. But.. I know the Lord is with me.. and He is fighting the battle.. I am just His tool..

Chin Ling: As I read the psalm, one thing I am assured of is this - Sometimes, we feel that God is asleep in our situation and we're left alone to fight. The truth is, Jesus is not asleep. But, one thing I am sure of, Jesus knows the storm that we goes through, and he is in control of it. And, I want to be still and know that he is God because I am assured that he makes ALL things beautiful in his time. Jesus is not asleep in our boat. He is in control.

Huijuan: Vs24-25 speaks to me cos i think at times when we get angry, we allowed our emotions to take over our mind. And satan will be laughing at one corner to say, " I did it!!! ahahah!" Today will i allow satan to laugh at me or I laughed at him back? I was reminded of yday at John Little sales, Simon went o find trolley cos we bought a lot of stuffs, and he left his handphone in the car, so i waited at a spot that we agreed, den i waited SOOOO LONG...abt 20mins...and i walked around trying to find him and also at the same time see if he's at the spot. I can choose to get super angry, u know the fluster lah.....ahha.. but i recalled about that satan will gloat and laugh at me....so i choose to have the calmness. Thank God, simon came running back....and we continued our shopping! hehe

Dellia: I know that I can stand secure & hope in the Lord, cos He's our vindicator and our deliverer!

Aileen: struggling a bit. Got news about my increment. Yes i got an increment but it wasn't what i was expecting cause i was told otherwise. So i'm feeling quite... aHhmmm.. about it. reading the psalms made me remember o the lords goodness. Indeed he will vindicate me and i choose to thank God for what i got. Amen!

Psalm 34

Psalm 34

Of David. When he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he left.

1 ^[a] I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.

2 My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

3 Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.

5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.

6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.

8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

9 Fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him lack nothing.

10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,

13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking lies.

14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;

16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.

18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19 A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;

20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.

21 Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.

22 The LORD redeems his servants;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.

Chin Ling: Taking refuge. Yesterday's extended worship time @ the beach really taught me what it means to take refuge. Even when the waves slammed against the sandy beach, even when people walks past and there is so many activity going around, I felt this sense of peace, and this sense of just wanting to sit still and here him. I'm reminded that in the same way, watever life's circumstance is, taking refuge in the Lord will give me strength and joy. As I do that, I am assured that I will taste of his goodness! Amen!

Jacq: Lord, thank you for reminding me to fear you. God, many times when I forget wht it is to fear you, I go by my own way. Teach me Lord, remind me, instil the fear of the Lord in me, that I will walk closer to your heart. Father, I knw you heard my cry for help. Let your mercy come today. Amen!

Crow: v5, those who look to him are radiant.. v9 fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.. v19, a righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.. Lord help me to always look to you... help me to always fear you... and as in v11, Come, my children, listen to me; i will teach you the fear of the Lord.. Lord I want to teach my girls to fear you... for those who fear you lack nothing.... and Lord i know i may face obstacles in life, but help me to know you will deliver me from them all.. not one of my bones will be broken...Lord i claim these promises..

Dellia: Fear the Lord and seek the Lord. Great truth in these verse! And we will not lack in nothing!

Psalm 33

Psalm 33

1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

2 Praise the LORD with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

3 Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy.

4 For the word of the LORD is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.

5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.

6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

7 He gathers the waters of the sea into jars ^[a] ;
he puts the deep into storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the LORD;
let all the people of the world revere him.

9 For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.

10 The LORD foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.

11 But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people he chose for his inheritance.

13 From heaven the LORD looks down
and sees all mankind;

14 from his dwelling place he watches
all who live on earth-

15 he who forms the hearts of all,
who considers everything they do.

16 No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.

17 A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.

18 But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

19 to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

20 We wait in hope for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.

21 In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.

22 May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD,
even as we put our hope in you.

Chin Ling: Today, I am reminded to keep my eyes in hope on the Lord, and focus on him alone. Because above all, he reigns.

Dellia: Focus on God & trust Him. Lord, I wanna put my hope on you. Fill me with Your unfailing love!

Crow: v3, Sing to him a new song; play skilfully, and shout for joy. Haha, this is my dream.. that i will learn to sing to the Lord a new song, learn to play skilfully for His glory, and always shout for joy! :)
