Psalm 14

For the director of music. Of David.

1 The fool ^[a] says in his heart,
"There is no God."
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven
on the sons of men
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.

3 All have turned aside,
they have together become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.

4 Will evildoers never learn—
those who devour my people as men eat bread
and who do not call on the LORD ?

5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous.

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
but the LORD is their refuge.

7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Chin Ling :
Ever since the psalm reading started, I've been more and more sensitive and aware of the Lord's presence in my life and it never felt better! And, the psalms says that the Lord is looking down from heaven, seeking for people who seek the Lord. It is really challenging me to go deeper in Jesus. I would like to be one of those that God takes delight in. I know I have a hope that is strong and firm that I can rejoice and be glad in! Praise the Lord!

Aileen:

I woke up early today to read my books and i just had a feeling of unease about going to work. That sinking feeling and i read psalms. Very reminded to take refuge in the lord today and i prayed against these negative feelings and told the lord that i'll be a light in my workplace today.

Sara: vs 2 - The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. To me, it's really finding and seeing God at work in my workplace, my relationship, my home, my life and understanding how much God yearns to pour out his heart to me, but only if I draw near to Him and seek Him with all my heart.

Pam: I am glad to noe tat I am nt a fool (cos I noe I have a great GOD!!!)! I am reminded that while knowing theres a God is simply just nt enf bt is realli seeking in HIM (taking refuge) .... n also be "spirtually conscious" lest I become like wat v3 saes "all have turned aside...."

Joanna: V6 "but the Lord is their refuge". God is reminding me that He is my refuge and strength. I am also reminded NOT to be a fool and decide my own ways.

Crow: i am reminded to always seek God.. Today was the first day @ school for me (after almost 2 mths of office work!!) haa, really thank the Lord for joy and peace @ the school today... :) Yup, God is so good!

Phebe: God spoke to me to do His to-do list, and not mine. i feel very encouraged today, cos God opened a door for me to have lunch with my fren today, last nite she suddenly shared with me her struggle (which sounded pretty similar to mine)..that her mum always wants her to get As..if not the mum wont be happy... In my heart i said...God, i must win this girl for you.. So praying now that she will be my open cell member #2! :) Not only that, this girl has 3 simliar modules as me this sem!!! so rare! this is definitely not a pure conicidence.. :)

Dellia: It is indeed so easy to walk astray.......I pray that as God look down from heaven, He will always find us faithful and loving Him and serving Him.

Psalm 13

Psalm 13

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1 How long, O LORD ? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and every day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

3 Look on me and answer, O LORD my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death;

4 my enemy will say, "I have overcome him,"
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.

6 I will sing to the LORD,
for he has been good to me.

Crow: This psalm is very dear to my heart... it has helped me through some lowest moments of my walk with God.. as i read the psalm again today, the Lord reminded me to always trust in His unfailing love, and always rejoice in his salvation.. for indeed, the Lord has been good to me! :)

Dellia: I will sing to the Lord for He has been good to me. That's the key verse for me today and I guess it speaks for itself more than I can explain! =) But I was reminded that I don't just sing because I feel good, but because He has been good to me!

Phebe: I will give thanks for what the Lord has blessed me with. v.6 - I will sing to the Lord for He has been good to me! :)

Chin Ling : There are times in our lives that I feel and question the presence of the Lord in my life, but what always draws me back in assurance of his presence is his love for me and all the goodness that he has poured into my life! Hence, I will rejoice in him!

Joanna: Every Psalm on Sunday has been speaking to me, as I struggle with my ministry. I really felt like David asking God "How long more", but am reminded not to ask "how long more" but instead "what I can learn" from all that has happened. God has been real to me.

Psalm 12

Psalm 12

For the director of music. According to sheminith . A psalm of David. ^[a]

1 Help, LORD, for the godly are no more;
the faithful have vanished from among men.

2 Everyone lies to his neighbor;
their flattering lips speak with deception.

3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue

4 that says, "We will triumph with our tongues;
we own our lips ^[b] —who is our master?"

5 "Because of the oppression of the weak
and the groaning of the needy,
I will now arise," says the LORD.
"I will protect them from those who malign them."

6 And the words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver refined in a furnace of clay,
purified seven times.

7 O LORD, you will keep us safe
and protect us from such people forever.

8 The wicked freely strut about
when what is vile is honored among men.

Chin Ling: I was reminded of the Isaiah 58 verse that indicates that we should not carry out idle talk. We're only 12 days into the year and God knows the idle talk I've been engaged in! But, this psalm really speaks to me, to not engage in idle talk is to remember that my purpose in talking is to protect instead of hurting. So, as of today, I would like to learn to speak a word of hope, a word of grace, and a word of healing. I pray that God will give me the strength from idle talking because God is the master of my mouth. Amen.

Crow: This is a good reminder that words are powerful.. Lord teach me to think before i speak..

Dellia: Similar to Chinling, I was reminded of this year's key verse in Isaiah to take note not to speak idle words. I guess as women, haaa, we talk a lot and often times say things that we regret later. Today, let's keep our tongues in check and ask the Lord to cleanse us and give us the peace to speak words of encouragment and words of love.

Phebe: God reminded me today to only speak forth words that will build others up, and words of encouragement.

Psalm 11

For the director of music. Of David.
1 In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: "Flee like a bird to your mountain.
2 For look, the wicked bend their bows;they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.
3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do [a] "
4 The LORD is in his holy temple;the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men;his eyes examine them.
5 The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked [b] and those who love violence his soul hates.
6 On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot.
7 For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.

Chin Ling: As I read this psalm, the Lord asked me a question, "Which side are you on?" . I am reminded that yes, My God is an extreme God. He is a God that does not sit on the fence, and so, I must be a daughter that does not sit on the fence. To the righteous, he protects and blesses abundantly, but the wicked, the Lord will bring his due consequences. I want to stand firm and stand on God's side because he is the safest refuge. Amen!

Huijuan: God is reminding me to have Him in my heart, so often i can miss him in every day my life. God help me to remember u.

Crow: The Lord is Righteous, he loves justice.. In His time will He do his work.. :)

Del: As I read today's psalm, I'm reminded that I'm under the Lord's protection and I need not fear. I don't have to flee like a bird!! haa! But well, what it really means to me is that the Lord will be with me and walk thru with me!

Aileen: Wa... I think that i'm a very amicable person. ALways say okay and i'm generally on good terms with people. today i'm very much challenged not to take the easy way out.. EEK .. that's going to be tough!

Sara: Hehe… when I read this psalm, I was just awed at his intimate relationship with God. How much he shares with God what's on his mind & in his heart, and how much He knows the Lord's heart. I yearn to have such a r/s with Him as well!

Pam: I am assured to know that He will see me thr difficult times. He is a just God and there is nothing i shld be fearful of! Hahaha... must believe n act on it!!!!!

Joanna: When I have been reading these few psalms, God has been bringing me to sing praises to him. Every Psalm has also mentioned how righteous our God is. God does not like the wayward and evil, but supports the righteous. God is also reminding me to stay firm in His word n not sway to the things in this world.

Phebe: I'm blessed with the Lord's protection! This psalm is really very real for today...i couldn't get my modules due to some last min errors and problems..almost had to start the sem with a lack of 2 modules... but God assured me that He is in control & i'm blessed with His protection. and so..today...i got my other 2 modules to start sch on mon! Thank God!!!

Psalm 10

Psalm 10

1 ^[a]Why, O LORD, do you stand far off?
Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

2 In his arrogance the wicked man hunts down the weak,
who are caught in the schemes he devises.

3 He boasts of the cravings of his heart;
he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.

4 In his pride the wicked does not seek him;
in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

5 His ways are always prosperous;
he is haughty and your laws are far from him;
he sneers at all his enemies.

6 He says to himself, "Nothing will shake me;
I'll always be happy and never have trouble."

7 His mouth is full of curses and lies and threats;
trouble and evil are under his tongue.

8 He lies in wait near the villages;
from ambush he murders the innocent,
watching in secret for his victims.

9 He lies in wait like a lion in cover;
he lies in wait to catch the helpless;
he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.

10 His victims are crushed, they collapse;
they fall under his strength.

11 He says to himself, "God has forgotten;
he covers his face and never sees."

12 Arise, LORD! Lift up your hand, O God.
Do not forget the helpless.

13 Why does the wicked man revile God?
Why does he say to himself,
"He won't call me to account"?

14 But you, O God, do see trouble and grief;
you consider it to take it in hand.
The victim commits himself to you;
you are the helper of the fatherless.

15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil man;
call him to account for his wickedness
that would not be found out.

16 The LORD is King for ever and ever;
the nations will perish from his land.

17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted;
you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,

18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed,
in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.

Dellia: Lord, help the oppress and those who need you. Save them and deliver them but most importantly, that they will know who You are. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN

Jacq: Before the battle has even started, claim the victory, because we serve a positive God, a victorious God.

Father when all that couldnt go wrong is going wrong, teach me how to rejoice n Trust you more. For your plans are far greater than what I can see, but i will learn to trust your greater ways. Lord, that these just show more that we are humans, and it is alright to fail and look bad. it is ok. God I claim a victorious battle today, even when things dont go right, I will stand up to overcome it all. God, bless everyone around, give them a hug of comfort, as we go through this day and the rest of this tiring week.

Chin Ling: Sometimes, I do look at those who do not believe in the Lord or even those who mock at christians, and wonder why they are so blessed and what sort of testimony this is. But, today, this psalm thought me to look to the Lord and remember that his ways, and his hands are righteous and he will rescue the righteous in his good time. His ways and thoughts are definetely higher than ours :) Hence, I am reminded to continually walk in the ways of the Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Crow: When i read this psalm, i'm reminded not to be proud and always choose to seek the Lord in all things.

Pam: I was reminded that God wans us to seek Him - He will not hide fr us if we seek Him wholeheartedly..... I need to not give up so easily in my pursue.... Dear sisters... let us "draw near to Him n He will draw near to you."

Sara: I think many of us are prone to become a woman of vs 1 & 11 - that when we're in the midst of trials, we sometimes lose hope and think that God's not there or that He has turned his back away from us! It's a personal reminder for me that where ever I am, in my workplace, at home, or going through any other battle, God is fighting the battle with me! He doesn’t merely offer His presence in times like this; He offers His comfort, His encouragement, His promises for us & Victorious battles! Thank you Lord! =)

Aileen: I was reminded to pray for my dad today. vs 5 " nothing will shake me. I'll always be happy and have no trouble" Think my dad really needs God cause he always thinks his right. HAHA.. Shall pray!

Joanna: When i saw this psalm, V12 spoke to me. It speaks that God does not forget the helpless. In moments when I feel helpless, this psalm reminds me that God sees it and is looking over me. This psalm also reminds me to love the poor and needy who are even more helpless.

Psalm 9

1 ^[a]I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonders.

2 I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

3 My enemies turn back;
they stumble and perish before you.

4 For you have upheld my right and my cause;
you have sat on your throne, judging righteously.

5 You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked;
you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.

6 Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy,
you have uprooted their cities;
even the memory of them has perished.

7 The LORD reigns forever;
he has established his throne for judgment.

8 He will judge the world in righteousness;
he will govern the peoples with justice.

9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.

10 Those who know your name will trust in you,
for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

11 Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion;
proclaim among the nations what he has done.

12 For he who avenges blood remembers;
he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.

13 O LORD, see how my enemies persecute me!
Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,

in the gates of the Daughter of Zion
and there rejoice in your salvation.

15 The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug;
their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.

16 The LORD is known by his justice;
the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.

Pam: The Lord will never leave those who trusts in Him. And always rendered help to the needy - financially or those poor in spirits!

Jacq : Praise must come right from the bottom of the heart, and deep within. the happiness outflows from deep within. God says today " Jia you my child, you are handling it well. Continue to run alongside and He will bring me through greater battles" With greater battles, comes greater victories =) The victory is yours too!

Chin Ling : I felt that the Lord was reminding me of the HOPE we have in him. That we can choose to praise him at all times, because we have a hope in him. That we can look ahead and know that Our HOPE will NEVER FAIL!

Crow: 2 verses spoke to me: v1"...I will tell of all your wonders" - dear Lord teach me to always speak of your goodness in my life to others.. and v18 "the needy will not always be forgotten" - I claim this promise for the children's families i serve..

Aileen: I was quite irritated cause i was going to be late this morning and while i was doing my QT i saw how david praised the lord even as people were persecuting him. So i decided that i shall praise the Lord no matter what happens today. Praise him!

Phebe: God reminded me that He will never forsake me! verse 18 spoke to me that i should also not forget about the needy...and go out to serve them...

Huijuan: Praise God at all times and i will see his wonders.

Dellia: Verse 1 came so true for me today! Haa...you won't imagine it but someone wants to give me a digital camera!! 4 mega pixel! wow...I will tell u all more about it, but indeed, the Lord is good. He knows best!

Psalm 8

For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by a stringed instrument. F7
1 O LORD, our Lord, the majesty of your name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.
2 You have taught children and nursing infants to give you praise. F8 They silence your enemies who were seeking revenge.
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you have set in place—
4 what are mortals that you should think of us, mere humans that you should care for us? F9
5 For you made us only a little lower than God, F10 and you crowned us with glory and honor.
6 You put us in charge of everything you made, giving us authority over all things—
7 the sheep and the cattle and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.
9 O LORD, our Lord, the majesty of your name fills the earth!

Chinling- Psalm 8 reminded me to Praise the Lord for who he is, and as I praise Jesus for who he is, I am assured of his authority in our lives, and of the position that he has given me. As I praise the Lord, Faith will arise in me as I see how big he is to be in control of the entire universe and yet, this BIG LORD has chosen ME. Praising God in all of his greatness keeps me humble yet confident of my position in the Lord.

Crow: God, in all his majesty and splendor, treats us as so so precious to Him... I praise Him! :)

Dellia: When I read Psalm 8, I can't help but feel like what have I done to deserve the Lord. He put us in charge of everything He has made and I realized that despite what I feel, I need to rise up and take charge of what God has given me and put in my best in all that I do.

Aileen: i'm reminded of God's grace! really... who are we?! so .. kum sia zhu

Phebe: After reading this psalm, I was led to praise God for all that He has done for me. There is a song composed with the lyrics of this psalm...an old christian worship song. ended up singing and worshipping God with it. :)

Jacq: God reminded me that I am His Princess, and He loves me.. His grace n mercies are new every morning.

Huijuan: As i read this psalm, i was reminded of God's love. I think i 'm not worthy to be loved by Him and yet, He's mindful of me. So this really reminded me to give thanks and always have God in my heart. :)
