Psalm 60 - Friday!

Psalm 60

For the director of music. To the tune of "The Lily of the Covenant." A miktam of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. [a] [b] [c]
1 You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us;
you have been angry-now restore us!

2 You have shaken the land and torn it open;
mend its fractures, for it is quaking.

3 You have shown your people desperate times;
you have given us wine that makes us stagger.

4 But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner
to be unfurled against the bow.
Selah

5 Save us and help us with your right hand,
that those you love may be delivered.

6 God has spoken from his sanctuary:
"In triumph I will parcel out Shechem
and measure off the Valley of Succoth.

7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is my helmet,
Judah my scepter.

8 Moab is my washbasin,
upon Edom I toss my sandal;
over Philistia I shout in triumph."

9 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?

10 Is it not you, O God, you who have rejected us
and no longer go out with our armies?

11 Give us aid against the enemy,
for the help of man is worthless.

12 With God we will gain the victory,
and he will trample down our enemies.

Chin Ling: Yes, we don't have to look to the favour of the people around us because the help of man is worthless. I want all my victories to come from the Lord and all glory be given to him! Amen!

Pam: v11-12.. Hahaha... was scratching my head while reading the ps.... but I am reminded to be dependent on the Lord.. while man will disappoint us.. He will not.. AMEN!

Eunice: Amen! "with God we will gain the victory". I am reminded that if I want to succeed, I must seek God first, not the help of men...

Aileen: was doing my assignment till 2 last night, then i turned to todays psalms and i was like.. ???? cause i thought i'll get some reassurance.. hahaha.. anyway im reminded that with God we will gain the victory! yeah claim claim!

Sara: When i read this psalm today, i thought, Lord, how come the pasalmist just talks about the same thing everyday for the past few psalms in fact, and i couldnt find any insight to it. but as i read it over and over again, it reminded me that 'if God is for me, then who can be against me?' and i know that im not fighting my daily battles alone, but with the Lord, and WE will gain the victory. thank you Lord, that you are with me. =)

Crow: As i read this passage, the Lord tells me that many times he does not spare us from going through difficult times, and though sometimes it seems like life is not so easy, it is all in His hands and His plans.. Lord help me to see victory through You..

Dellia: I'm reminded again that it's only with God that I can have the victory!! THerefore I can rest secure...cos He is with me!
