An oak tree

9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Colossians 1:9-10

Recently, I discovered that Pastor Khong also has a blog..ehhe…He has a daily devotion in his blog. So I am using his devotion to do my QT. Last 2 days I came across this devotion which I think really speaks to me and I hope it speaks to you too. There are two kinds of trees in the forest, a rubber tree and an oak tree. Rubber trees have shallow roots; it falls easily when soil erosion occurs. An oak tree has deep roots into the ground, it is firm and independent, and it still stands strong when storms come. An example in our walk with God; are your Christian walk superficial and shallow like the rubber trees? You will only draw nearer to God when you need Him. Or are you the oak tree? Where your roots are strong in the Lord, in trials or in happiness, my only hope and joy is in the Lord. I want to go deep in the God, please him in everyway. Be a special oak tree that can live through storms, where their roots are deep. In this season of growing deep in the Lord, talk to Him everyday, grow in the knowledge of Him. Is there anything that the Lord is prompting you to grow in the knowledge of Him?
