Psalm 19

Psalm 19

For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.

3 There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard. [a]

4 Their voice [b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,

5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.

6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.

10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.

11 By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.

13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Chin Ling : What struck me in Psalm was that David saw the laws of the Lord, the fear of the Lord and the thoughts of the Lord as precious and trustworthy. I'm learning to change my attitude towards the laws, the thoughts of the Lord, treating them as precious as Gold knowing that it will keep me from willful sins. To be honest, I really dislike laws because I believe that we should be governed by our conviction of the law, instead of blindly following them. But as I read the psalm, I'm beginning to have a change of heart, the laws are there to protect me, to prevent willful sins from entangling my soul, and hence, I am bounded by the laws of the Lord. For that, I don't mind!

Phebe: After reading the psalm, again I was reminded by God to fear Him...that's most important...and God will bless when we humbly obey.

Huijuan: This psalm is wonderful cos God says when we obey them, there is a great reward! You know the year of sabbath is really a year God wan2 bless us! And i ask God how He's goin too? He revealed in psalm 19! Woohoo!! What's the reward!!! hahah

Joanna: Verse 14 is really what I pray for that, " the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer". I also want to hear him like David in all 3 areas, nature, His word and holy spirit.

Crow: like joanna, verse 14 is what i pray this day... that the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in His sight.... I thank the Lord for his protection and blessing throughout this week... :)

Dellia: I'm reminded of this year's verse of Isaiah 58 again! Guess the Lord is really teaching me about doing things that please Him! =) Especially in speaking of words! That I need to please Him more than any other people
