Psalm 31

Psalm 31

For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
deliver me in your righteousness.

2 Turn your ear to me,
come quickly to my rescue;
be my rock of refuge,
a strong fortress to save me.

3 Since you are my rock and my fortress,
for the sake of your name lead and guide me.

4 Free me from the trap that is set for me,
for you are my refuge.

5 Into your hands I commit my spirit;
redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.

6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols;
I trust in the LORD.

7 I will be glad and rejoice in your love,
for you saw my affliction
and knew the anguish of my soul.

8 You have not handed me over to the enemy
but have set my feet in a spacious place.

9 Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress;
my eyes grow weak with sorrow,
my soul and my body with grief.

10 My life is consumed by anguish
and my years by groaning;
my strength fails because of my affliction, [a]
and my bones grow weak.

11 Because of all my enemies,
I am the utter contempt of my neighbors;
I am a dread to my friends—
those who see me on the street flee from me.

12 I am forgotten by them as though I were dead;
I have become like broken pottery.

13 For I hear the slander of many;
there is terror on every side;
they conspire against me
and plot to take my life.

14 But I trust in you, O LORD;
I say, "You are my God."

15 My times are in your hands;
deliver me from my enemies
and from those who pursue me.

16 Let your face shine on your servant;
save me in your unfailing love.

17 Let me not be put to shame, O LORD,
for I have cried out to you;
but let the wicked be put to shame
and lie silent in the grave. [b]

18 Let their lying lips be silenced,
for with pride and contempt
they speak arrogantly against the righteous.

19 How great is your goodness,
which you have stored up for those who fear you,
which you bestow in the sight of men
on those who take refuge in you.

20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them
from the intrigues of men;
in your dwelling you keep them safe
from accusing tongues.

21 Praise be to the LORD,
for he showed his wonderful love to me
when I was in a besieged city.

22 In my alarm I said,
"I am cut off from your sight!"
Yet you heard my cry for mercy
when I called to you for help.

23 Love the LORD, all his saints!
The LORD preserves the faithful,
but the proud he pays back in full.

24 Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD.

Jacq: I woke up very tired today.. not only cos I slept late ytd, i was also reminded of my tiring journey. The Lord has reminded me that at sharing ytd, I only shared about wht I had gone thru, the very tiring journey, and not what He had brought me through.. the victories he has given to me, I hv forgotten to share of His goodness. I'm sorry Lord! v9 today reminds me that when I cry out to the Lord in weakness n sorrow, ( it is only human to be weak n sad ).. The Lord will hear our cry. Yes, Thank you Lord.. The Lord has heard my cry and answered me in the many ways! The many times when you have heard my cry, you have brought me through. vs 19, How great is His goodness for those whom have seek refuge in Him. someone told me, God chooses to let us hide in the shadow of His wings, not under his wings, but only in the shadow because He does not wants us to shelter us from trails, but he wants us to take shelter in Him, when we are attacked! He do not want to pamper us by protecting us from all trials and suffering. Rather, He preferred you to go through them and...He watches over you, making sure that things are not too difficult for you to go through. in v24, God is reminding me again today, that I need to be strong, and take hard. The Lord will come.. Do it right, do it the God way.. not my way..Isa 58... not going your own way.. Lord, your way I follow..

Chin Ling: V8 really stand out to me today, "but have set my feet in a spacious place." Not only will God protect us and be our refuge, he will set our feet on a spacious place, a comfotable place. Indeed, God has more in stored for us! :) There's nothing to fear cause we're in God's presence! :) Praise the Lord!

Pam: This morning I woke up feeling defeated even as I pondered on ydae mtg n all... having mixed despite the testimonials of His goodness tat del was sharing... until I read v5.. wah... I CLAIMED it! Indeed I want to commit my defeated spirit into Him... for He will redeem me in His truth..! And the Pslam nicely ended with v13... "be strong n take heart all you who hope in e Lord" Yup... so lift ur spirits up n be hopeful!

Phebe: *i knoe havent been updating, apologies...hav to babysit :0)* As i read today's psalm...i could identify wif it, cos i've been physically tired, and it affected my emotional state too..but yest's g12 word spoke alot to me.. i claim that God will giv me a double portion for my troubles! :) amen

Crow: As i read the psalm, I believe the Lord is saying that He has so much blessings in store for those who walk with Him and do not go our own way. I woke up v tired this morning, but as i read the psalm, God assures me to always simply rest in His provisions.. Looking forward to more of His presence and love each day! :)

Sara: today i woke up feeling quite tired also, and was really dragging myself to work with a defeated spirit, which i have had no idea why. Initially i thought it was due to the tiredness, so i brushed it away, but i couldnt come to terms with why i was feeling so discouraged and down although nothing happened. And i knew that it wasnt from me nor the Lord, but from the evil one who wants to make us feel defeated. and like this psalm says, i will trust in the Lord and i trust that He will deliver me!

Dellia: Had a wonderful time with my family @ Botanic gardens today. However, I learnt of a person that I know that have passed away.....and she was pregnant. Till now, I'm unsure whether the news is true..and I don't even know if I want to know the truth. But as I read the Psalm again, I'm reminded that indeed I can put my trust in the Lord. But at the same time, I thought to myself....for me, I can find my comfort with the Lord, but what about those who aren't christians. As i reflect on the news, I realized how short life is and I need to take every opportunity to share the gospel...Lord, help me to overcome my fear, but be bold to share Christ with everyone. Bless this family who doesn't know You, that they will find this Psalm true to their life.
